Himalayan Mens Hash Run No 0010 Monday 17 December 1979
Location Airfield runway contractor's camp Hares Russell and Guy Stone
Hashit Apparently not awarded Scribe Robinson Hashers 15
Hash No. 10 started off from the Airfield Contractors Camp on the East side of the airport. The hash was the first since the school holidays started, and we were very happy to welcome Mark Verheyen and two Robinsons to swell our numbers. Anyone else who knows of likely lads who would like to run, bring them along. Also, Stewart McNab joined us and will be turning up again.

The run set off away to the East of the airport and on the second check we ran into trouble. The main body rushed on and when checked continued to search forward for a check that was to the rear and to the right, eventually after we had been given time to search about, the hares put us straight, and we were off across the paddy towards the River! Oh not again!

It was at this point that we noticed that one of our number was missing - Anyone seen a green track suited male caucasian aged about 35 with fair hair and the ability to guess wrong? Yes Niel WAS absent. But more later.

A check near the river, we were very suspicious but then we saw a low one plank bridge and a couple of leading Scouts went across, Derek had other ideas and was heading for Patan. The trail was found on the other side and we were across dry shod and on up to the bottom of a cliff. Another check - the path went up hill but that was too obvious, we set off round the base - WRONG -it was up hill- pity -. Half way up as we plodded, one chanced to glance across the paddy and there like an angry dragonfly was a green track suited figure miles away running around all by himself - Guess who?

The trail we were sure would now go down again

and lead to where Niel was obviously on paper of some sort. The hares allowed us to go down only to shout ON ON back up the hill and away in a long loop around some low hills -It was getting dark and we were still on the way OUT! as we came around the last bend who should we meet coming the other way yelling ON ON but Niel. Having persuaded him that he was not the only one going the right way we all set off on the home run down the escarpment and off across the paddy. The river again and a check. Another low bridge which the majority crossed and having found some paper set off home led by Mark. We were wrong the trail did not cross the bridge but went along the bank - too late, most of us had gone too far, so we ended up with two hashes one on each bank. The Northern groups were lucky as the Southern still had to cross the water I think they got wet but it was now too dark to tell. A final run in up on to the airfield escarpment with, the snows showing faintly in the moonlight and we were home.

Come into my office said Tony H it is warm and has all mod cons. Well I now know what he actually does, working all night on the airfield - there are no lights in his office so no doubt the camp bed is quite comfortable.

A good well laid trail on a trifle long - well done Tony H and Guy Stone.

NEXT HASH 7 JANUARY 1980
On the ring road the bridge between Balaju and Maharajgunj. DON'T FORGET YOU WILL NEED THE EXERCISE BY THEN.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
