Turnout 24 About 20 good men and true (well most of them) assembled under the Trolley bus lines near Timi and awaited with bated breath the arrival of the Scribe and No. 34 report. All this to no avail as the grampus announced that "there was no report." With that, he was given one more chance before the lynching. This week a few of the RAF turned out again for their farewell and as usual brought their Doctor. It often seemed that he needed his own care. A few more new faces and unpronounceable names, to whom welcome. If you expected the Australian foresters to lay an upside-down trail of koala footprints and checks marked by a billy hanging from a coolibah tree, you should not have bothered to come, but as Napoleon said "Du sublime au ridicule iln'y a qu'un pas". It was a good trail but what do you expect from H4 Founder Hashers. Not long after the start, Colin Barron earned the Walking Stick by running straight over a check and was almost at Godawi before anyone could stop him. He showed such command that everyone else followed. (Was this true leadership potential, or merely as stated in a confidential report "his men will follow him anywhere, i[f] only out of curiosity"). Having sorted out the Hashers, the trail was found once more and the subsequent sections proved to be good with a well-marked trail and good checks (except for the confusing check which Young denied, so it must have been Midgley!) -- (J Masters note - make the check obvious and mark it with the two larger paper clumps cither side of the trail and at right angles.) From the rearguard observation point the leaders seemed to be going well and too well - what chance did Eric and Jan have to aspire to being front runners or even what incentive? The last leg down the road to the vehicles. Here most be an additional local Hash Commandment "If the run in has to follow a road thou shalt not lay it on the most fum [?] polluted stretch in Nepal lest thou suffer from asphyxia at the hands of the Hashers" In the aftermath Jan Zonneveld announced that next week (No. 36) would be on the Ring Road having turned left from Kalamati area. As he does not know his left from his right, try the other direction. Julian Pagella promised to have the reports at 34 and 35, so we look forward to some interesting reading, one day. |
