Turnout 18

Here it is. An item which has become a real collector's piece over the past few weeks - A HASH REPORT. You now have a new scribe who has promised faithfully to produce lucid (lurid) reports each week in exemplary Irish prose.

Eighteen runners eventually assembled north of the Rajpath on the Ring Road. The first commotion of the evening was caused by Midgley who turned up in a pair of pinstripe shorts. To everyone's relief he announced that yet again he was not running. Guy also said he was not running due to some trouble with his muscles. We didn't enquire any further.

A rumour was then put about that there was NO BEER! Several bathers were immediately observed making for their cars and had to be restrained from leaving. We set off up a steep hill then down a steep hill to a check, then up a steep hill, then down a steep hill to a check , then . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. All very good running but there was some xxxxxx up front who kept finding paper. Who was it? He was so far ahead that we couldn't even recognise his ON-ON. The field was now very spread out but muttered curses of "hobble the xxxxxxx" were quite audible from all quarters. We then had two very good checks which brought everyone together once more except for our front-runner. Colin was seen somewhere near the front for a while with his walking stick but then we came to a check by a tree and he resumed his normal position at the back.

At this point, the scribe decided to investigate the secret of front-runner's success so he set off in hot pursuit. God knows what happened to the rest of you but I certainly didn't see any more paper and the front-runner was observed joining the Rajpath somewhere near Thankot.

Back at the cars. NO BEER! Surely a hashitable offence strangely quashed by an excuse that the commissary was closed. It will not be reported how we quenched our thirst because people reading this report in years to come might think we were a bunch of fairies. After waiting hours for the front-runner - Yes, it was Scholey - we made a quick dash to the nearby International Club and soon welcome beer. Needless to say there was disorder in the car park in the rush to get to the bar.

A good run Eric and Fred. Much enjoyed by all.
