Back down to 16 runners this week so if this happens next week we shall have to start insulting people again to raise the numbers. When the 16 even includes the lone Loane for the first time since Run No. 65 (19 Jan.) it really is a sad state of affairs. (Note you are all on record — It’s the ones that don’t turn up that are put on the real record) It’s strange the messages you get doing this job. Somebody told me the other day that NELLA KCIR was pissed off that he never got a mention in the HASH reports. Who the hell would ever seek that distinction I do not know - I mean you have to do something dumb to get a mention, or get drunk every week, or forget to lay the HASH, or . Anyway there is good opportunity to mention NELLA KCIR this week as NELLA KCIR was a hare with John Roberts and they did a wonderful job. From the bridge on the road to Sundarijal, where we have assembled on several previous occasions we looked up that bloody great hill and said in unison “Shit, not again.” We started slightly differently by going north along the river bed to the first check. As usual No. 15 disappeared over the horizon and was rarely seen again. The rest of us scouted around and got a bit tired meanwhile the Dutch Curse was frantically chatting up the hares for a clue. As usual he got it by acting dumb and finding the paper back from the check which led us still north through the local handball court to another check. These were the usual preliminaries to climbing that bloody hill but somebody with a very weak voice found paper, again back from the check, but DOWN to the valley below. |
By this time our Junior HM had got the message from NELLA KCIR and John Roberts - at the third check he went back, immediately found paper and led us to the best check in the corn fields around a village. A false trail sent Clough and his crew hopelessly wrong meanwhile Bert V de P (or was it the helmeted Scholey), who never strays far from the checks, found himself standing on paper close-by and led us down again to the only check where paper was found ahead. Just then, one of our member appeared around the side of a hill and informed us, and the locals, in a loud voice “I’m coming.” We all blushed and ran away quickly. Two more NELLA - Roberts back checks got us confused before Calin Barron found the home trail and led us to the chariots. That was a very good run in different country which was most welcome. HASH No. 86 - From the roundabout on the Ring Road at Maharajgunj go
west for 2.1 km (1.3 miles). Turn right up dirt road and go for 2.5 km
(1.6 miles). You will come to a creek where we start. HASH no. 87 - Barron and Dibley Note: — if NELLA KCIR turns up next week he might get another mention. |
