The rain held off so that 27 runners and Duckbill could make the most of dry trails after an initial cooling off in the stream. While 69, Martina, Doma and Lynda guided a slow moving pack of horrors to holding check 6, at the pass below the temple, the less wise headed straight down the stream and then right and up towards Thaiba and check 1. Of course it was a back check across the stream and into the village of Jharuwarsi. Paper headed to check 2 on a knoll overlooking the valley in front of Nag Taha. Hurry Krishna had the pond in his sights and headed well across the valley, with Duckbill pulling Towed right behind. Again paper went back and up through the village and level to the right and (of course) back check 3.

Again a short climb brought the pack to check 4 at a T junction. A few of the more adventurous headed for corn fields while the rest went right up the road, and took a pretty loop to the left before returning to the road and check 5 at a viewpoint. A little hare encouragement finally got the pack up to check 6 where the short cutters were relaxing. Off we went south through the pass, the short cutters heading left for check 9 while the rest turned right and ran to the next pass and check 7. There was a generally scattering from here, but most found paper heading south and down, while Duckbill and Towed forged through new territory. Again we cut through corn fields to check 8 on another bump. That fooled no one and soon we were all back at the Kotkhu Khola bridge to the west of Bardigaon. The more energetic checked south while the wiser crossed the bridge and turned left along an irrigation ditch, following Hurry Krishna's lead. He knew that the Fox can never pass up irrigation ditch trails. People chose their own way down, while Rotter and Jalak headed up over the hill and tiptoed along the edge of Bardigaon and Thaiba - a very dangerous place to run. No one made it to check 10, but all got back to the chariots in time to welcome Towed and Duckbill.

Today's virgin hashers added a little class to the trail. Dr. Hillary, professor at Dhulikhel Hospital, managed to follow the hash directions and arrive in good time by public transport. Unfortunately she had been to summer camp as a kid. More on that later. Our second virgin, Harihar Acharya, is a classical dance teacher. He proved his running skills on the course and his dancing skills in the circle.

We sadly (?) bid a temporary farewell to the Towed Hall and Rotter's Roost families. If Qatar Airways allows them on the return flights to Kathmandu, we look forward to seeing them at the end of July, ready to run on the first August hash. Engineers Wim and Akio MAY be leaving this week. We bid them a MAYBE farewell.

Crashers 69, Turd Herder, Tadpole and Durga were consoled for crashing. We welcomed Hurry Krishna to married life and look forward to meeting Mrs. Hurry soon. Perhaps they'll want to visit that temple we ran around. One prays for good sons there.

Rotter nearly forgot to hand out the Hashit, but a friendly Horror reminded him. There were a few weak nominations before the pack zeroed in on Hillary who thought she would have to sing a song in the circle. We assured her that she didn't have to, but she SANG THAT STUPID SONG ANYWAY! That got Towed going and we were lucky to escape before dark. Hillary rightly got the Hashit. It will be most useful for her classes with budding medical students.

Many thanks to Durga and the Rotter's Roost Kitchen Crew for the usually good snacks. We'll have to go hungry for a few weeks.
