First Term

Socksucker resents a beer hashit! Trouble for Dad later.

The Norwegians brought a great calming influence to the run. Grumblewald managed not to take the pack to the Bagmati. The course began as a reverse run, heading along an irrigation ditch and down to check one, near the road leading to Pharsidole and the Bagmati. The front runners took the bait and headed down until Grumblewald's shouts herded them back up the hill and onto a trail leading to the motor road. We went a hundred meters north and then turned back right on a good trail and down into paddy fields and check 2, where a pack of walkers were milling about in the fields. Paper from this back check headed down again, and along the Nakhu Khola Valley to holding check 3 at the suspension bridge between Bungamati and Sunakoti. We climbed the usual trail to the main irrigation ditch and check 4. Paper went up again on a trail heading for Sunakoti, to yet another backcheck. Checks 6 and 7 took the pack a little farther up the valley, and then down to the Nakhu Khola where a log once served as a bridge. The log is no more.

Here is were the Scandinavians let us down. Proper negotiations with the Nepalese authorities can solve any problem. Yet these development experts did not try to deal with the Nepalese rain gods who in turn saw that the stream was in spate. Miss Cathy Custard Tart, Sock Sucker and Duckbill almost got free rides to India, but with the help of Towed and friends, made it across. Paper then took us up to an irrigation ditch and downstream to holding check 8. We quickly headed uphill to another backcheck, and then up to the road for a good home run north to the chariots.

A drugged Grand Master failed to show up today, so Towed efficiently stepped in to run the circle. The pack took a little time to get used to the softer voice, but a couple of down-downs settled the pack down.

Viaggro paid for his hat in the circle. An extra drink helped sootheBekah's hangover. "Helper" Towed Under was taught not to help. Cathy and Sock Sucker got swimming awards. Apple paid for his private party. We thanked MIA and Helle for the great shredded paper. Despite the conditions the snow white paper was easy to follow.

Night Owl bought Sock Sucker at the inflated price of Rs.50. Although the Hash Mismanagement does not support child trafficking the Mismanagement noted that Sock Sucker was left to fend for himself. That he can do, but he at least has to pay run fees. The Mismanagement further noted that the beer was warm. Whereas only death, only death, absolves grand masters from family and hash responsibilities, Rotter got the Hashit. Sock Sucker did the drinking for him.

Many thanks to Towed Under for the supply of cookies and snacks.
