Hordes of Danish Virgins

More Virgins - the majority Dutch

There must be something else we could have done this afternoon?

For running too quickly to notice crosses on false trails

Despite the fact of there being much more important world matters being addressed in Australia, a surprising number of hashers foregathered at Catalunya School for another Night Owl classic. Mind you, there weren't too many from the great rugby playing nations. At 3 p.m. prompt the Master called for order and the Hares were called in for the run briefing. Six checks were announced, with 3 and 5 being holding checks and there would be false trails, one river crossing and not much else. First paper was indicated off to the east, for a change, and off we went.

Check 1 was soon encountered and caused massive confusion with people milling about in all directions looking for back checks, weird loops etc., but nobody seemed to check the straight on option! So up towards the plateau the pack straggled, having been spread far and wide in the search for the elusive paper. Check 2 seemed to have disappeared as the next thing I knew was arrival at Holding Check 3 well before many others that I don't recall passing on the way there. Eventually the lost lot, including the GM, Grumble and Keeled Over, turned up and the pack were invited to check it out.

The Hares seemed intent on simply taking us up and down between plateau and valley from this point on, Check 4 being down by the river, where Duckbill nearly lived up to her name again, then up to meet up briefly with the walkers before heading off down to Holding Check 5 under a ping erected across the road. Once a few were gathered, there was no waiting for the Hare and the pack set off to check it out without any further ado. Paper was soon found leading back up to the plateau again and heading down to the river and home for some, via Check 6 for others, which was at the same little knoll that was the final holding check on Night Owl's last run.

The Hares managed to get the timing perfect, with the pack and walkers mingling in a number of places and everyone except Socksucker and Head Chopper getting back to the On-In within 15 minutes or so after a one hour run.

There was a degree of haste about the ensuing proceedings (and a degree of guesswork as to what happened since I have no notes again and the GM hasn't got anything up on the webshite yet). Hares were awarded 9.9 and once again a host of Danish virgins, this time visiting Viaggro, were introduced as well as the whole five Segal family who have been trying and failing to make it to the Hash for the past two years. I'm sure there were a couple of others as well who were rushed through their initiation before some welcome backs were welcomed back and one newcomer introduced.
Hashit was given to Peter just to get things over and done with, and possibly for wearing a very small sports bra before social drinking was declared and the Brits rushed off to watch England stuff South Africa.
Thanks to the Hares for a very well laid run which, given English priorities, was of a very suitable length and to Mrs Rotter for the usual hash catering.
