U.S. AID DUTY OFFICER LOST -- FOUL PLAY SUSPECTED -- HEME CHARGED This afternoon, a U.S. AID worker on duty, who cannot be named for security reasons, but whom we'll call Naren, disappeared in the Chobar area. He made the fatal mistake of following Grumblewald far off hash paper. Thorough Hash investigators discovered that Heme Sherpa was last to see the victim, somewhere around Chobar Village. In true Hash tradition, Heme left him to his fate. The Religious Advisor did all he could to pin the rap on Grumblewald, but saner accusers prevailed, and therefore Heme received the Hashit. Naren did not panic until he discovered that his U.S.AID-issued cell phone did not work. He prevailed upon a compassionate shopkeeper to let him use a telephone on credit (proving that Nepalese DO support Americans) and called for a vehicle to bring him back to the on-on site, where his boss welcomed him. We note that Naren's mutt, Siggi, was no help in finding the way. He should have a fox for a pet. Thirty-nine runners and two mutts started the classic Griot-Fox
run, looping west to a washing area and check 1. Check two was
below the Sainbu pass and holding check 3 at the usual temple
above Sainbu village. Paper then took the pack down to the bridge,
across it, and left below the Ganesh Temple and along the west
side of the Beautiful Bagmati to check 4. The walkers stayed on
the east bank. Tibet Gal and
Lill lead them back to the
chariots. Paper climbed west across the Dakshinkali Road and up
to check 5. By now Grumblewald
was in his element so he ran through HOLDING check 6 and off paper.
He eventually got back following the outgoing paper. The wiser
runners waited at the holding check. Paper started in the next
valley and climbed to check 7 part way up the south side of the
Chobar hill. Apple, Sanjive
and Lhanzi headed off on a
shortcut here. We continued to the road and down to check 8 above
the bridge. The honest runners followed the east bank of the Bagmati,
looping through checks 9 and 10, and back to the chariots.
The circle was late (after Griot
finished biking around, looking for signs of Naren),
short, and compassionate (wanking allowed). Steve
and Juan Carlos accused each
other of Hash Splashing and accepted down-downs, most of which
they threw at each other. |
