Rabi declaims the winning limerick

. . . and promptly collects the Hashit

A pack of 50 harriers and too many mutts, almost recovered from the Kavre Marathon of a week ago, gathered at the pines above Godavari Village Resort to put up with a run in preparation for a meal at the resort. Alas, no meal but at least a great run!

Hare Lost Ark suggested that the pack find the first paper itself. Rabi was not to be fooled and soon led the scattered mob north and down to the Kotkhu Khola on to check 1 across the stream. Paper headed up the left bank to check 2 at the next bridge -- an obvious back check. The wandering paper, with carefully unmarked corners, sent the ambitious front harriers off course, while the more careful friends of the hares found their wandering way to holding check 3. Meanwhile, checking from the first stop, Duckbill and her follower found the false trail from check 3, making checking considerably easier.

An uphill scramble got the pack heading west to a road and up to check 4 at a T junction. There, the Fox's casual conversation led to information that the paper went right. It might be inferred that generous amounts of Norwegian Aid loot went into the dissemination of this false information. Anyway, Towed, Kent and, the Fox took the bait. The first two had the sense to double back, while the Fox just missed finding paper well ahead of the pack, and he too circled the middle hill to find paper and lots of helpful locals to get through check 5 and catch up to Apple who was enjoying a peaceful walk. [ed. Towed is huffing and puffing that he never doubles back: "I took the dubious shortcut to the top of the said hill and then back along its ridge until, from this vantage point, he spotted the pack way down below."] On the climb to Santaneshwar Mahadev Temple (1508m height), we found Line U heading back to look for her mutt, who had decided, wisely, to head for the chariots.

Remember that temple: When one wants children, one goes along with one's wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend, to make a few clockwise rounds around the temple, and then does the needful. If you don't want the kids, do the needful more carefully! [ed. it looked as if a few courting couples that the hash disturbed in the pine forests were well on the way to doing the needful].

Paper dropped down the east side of the ridge and crossed the river again at the bridge. It was good to meet, and tempting to follow the walkers at this point. After another check, paper went over the bluff and east to Badegaon, crossing the road and looping south through a mob of people on a slightly more religious outing. A long home run brought the pack back across the road to the chariots.

The louder of the Master Baiters was off in Jomsom [ed. who is that?], so the "quiet” one took over to efficiently dispose of the hares.

We welcomed Virgins Kent Rogers, Helle Bak, Jan Helmer, Ursula Mier, Lauren Moriarty, and Jacqueline Broussim.

We rejoiced at the return of Lost Ark who led a great team; Lao Lover, his Lover, and a couple of representatives of their dog pack; and veteran Betty Woodsend, who added a little badly needed maturity to the group.

Newcomers Justin and Jan received the usual welcome.

The following received special awards;:

Line for falling for Minimutt's tricks
Pakesey for his imitation injury
Crashers: Lazy Toad, BigJim, Lizzy, Guru, and Peter
Lost Ark for being a moaning git
Redfaced Beetroots Lost Ark and Cornelie
Margaret's private party
Grumblewald for being himself

Handfons: Jenny and Shrivelled.

The climax of the day was Carlos' final judgment of the limerick contest. Only three hashers were literate enough to write; Towed, Rabi and Keeled. Rabi, with his St. Xavier's Education, won hands down, and was awarded the Hashit for his efforts. Click here to see all five limericks.
