Hash 1475 - A Second Opinion From Kruel

Quote of the day: “Wow! That was the most mind-blowing Hash ever!” -- Anonymous

At 2:20 PM, February 17, 2007 just south of Towed Pond, the runners set off on what would be one of the greatest hashes of all time. Crossing the Bosan Khola, the first check was found just one minute into the run. The trail led on to Towed Pond . . . .

. . . where check two lay, and then down to the Mighty Bag (of sewage) mati River for a holding check which Yogi gleefully ignored. The pack then headed south and up until it joined the Daksinkali road where Yogi, Shiva and Ram earned a down-down for shortcutting. The more apollonian runners arrived at holding check two in Chalnakhel and stared fearfully at the towering hills dominating the skyline to the immediate west. Some mutterings about turning back were heard. But though the trail did lead the pack up steeply to the west, it soon turned north and leveled off.

From somewhere far below, Griot could be heard calling “Ayoh!” The rest of the run traced the rim of the natural step found a third of the way up Taukani hill.

Mid-way along the ridge, the trail led through the court-yard of an old village house where a savory stew was brewing and where a bevy of lovely girls were dancing. Though there was no check, all the runners stopped and many of the women hashers joined in with the dancing and festivity. Even Griot got jiggy with it. After the glowing cultural exchange, runners followed the trail along the contour of the cliff’s edge until the village of Bosan where runners wound out to an aerial peninsula to find holding check 12. After taking in the view, runners headed down the cliff upon a serious staircase which led straight back to the On-in site in about one hour, twenty minutes.

This run offered everything—altitude, spectacular views, river crossings, Bagmati smellings, lake-side bird viewings and of course a dance-party intermission.

It was a pinnacle Hash experience. The only other hashes that are on par with this fantastic Hash would be Hashes numbers 1412, 1416, 1419, 1427, 1431, 1463, and 1458. (and you can all guess what they have in common! - GM).

Sharmila and Santosh led walkers up to the edge of Bosan Goa, the back down and north to the Bosan Khola. It was here that the walkers noticed the great divide in the group and so sent Santosh back to find the slower pack (Itchy et al.) The trail led along the river, along Towed Pond . . .

. . . and then back to the On-in site. Here's Billi on her way in . . .

With the BM—oops I mean GM—and the GMz both gone, we were short of leaders. After some scrounging and pleading, Victim graciously agreed to lead the circle. Tibetan cookies from Tibet Gal, tuna dip from Mrs Rotter and guacamole from someone else were all delicious and much appreciated by the ravenous hoards.

Down-downs went to various people for various reasons most of which I can no longer remember.
